SECOLARI, which is Italian for “Age Old,” is an artisan olive oil and vinegar tasting room located in Ellicott City, Maryland. The name was adopted in honor and in tribute of the ancient olive tree, which can live for 3 to 4 thousand years.
Secolari Extra Virgin and flavored olive oils are sourced exclusively form California producers. Our Extra Virgin Olive Oils are certified by the California Olive Oil Council and include a number of single varietal oils as well as proprietary blends – ranging from oils with a mild and grassy to robust and peppery. Secolari’s flavored oils include an award-winning basil-flavored oil, as well as fused olive oils flavored with organic herbs, citrus, and spices. Unlike typical infused oils – when the fruit or herb is added only after bottling – our oils are flavored at the time of the first olive cold pressing, creating an unique oil that is fully embedded with the fresh flavor of the particular herb, pepper or fruit.
Secolari’s vinegars and balsamic are truly exceptional and unique. These vinegars and balsamic are not found in any other retail establishment within the immediate Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. Produced by an organic farmer in the Central Coast region of California, Secolari vinegars include Pacific Spice, Champagne Mimosa, Blackberry with Roasted Pepper, and an award-winning Blackberry Balsamic. These vinegars and balsamic are not only for salad dressings, but are recommended for use as marinades, reductions, glazes, and finishing sauces. They also may be combined with Secolari brand olive oils to create that extraordinary taste experience for the most discriminating palate.
Situated in a warm and welcoming old-world Tuscan farm house environment, the store specializes in the sale of Extra Virgin and flavored olive oils, vinegars and balsamic. In addition, Secolari offers an array of pastas, salts, spices, mustards, spreads, tapenades, honeys, and art work from the ancient olive tree and from local artists. We also offer a special section dedicated to the sale of organic bath and beauty products made with olive oil. It is our goal to take the mundane, and make it exceptional by enhancing one’s life with the overall benefits of the Age Old Mediterranean Lifestyle through the introduction of exceptional foods and works of art.
Each of our products is sourced only after a personal visit to the particular producer by Bart and Mary deRosa, owners of Secolari, to assure that we offer only those of the highest possible quality in terms of taste and presentation, and an extraordinary culinary experience.
